Troubled sleeper

Kristi asks: I need some help! For almost a year I have been having trouble sleeping. Something wakes me up at 1, 2 or 3:00 and I rarely get a good nights rest. At this point I’m desperate! Drugs don’t help, I still wake up and then I can’t function at all. Any ideas? Thanks for all you do! Kristy

PSI says: Hi Kristy, this has been such an interesting case for us because the offenders waking you up are animal spirits. After reading your question, we have been hearing birds chirping and singing, as well as a cat yowling. You have made your home a sanctuary to rescue animals of all sorts. This has spilled over into the spirit world as well. While the spirits in question do not mean you any harm whatsoever, we understand that they are causing you a lot of sleep deprivation. They are actually in your house all of the time. There are birds, cats, dogs and others. They are often playing with your living animals. When you reach a certain level of sleep your third eye relaxes, thus your intuition is wide open. You can hear the animals’ noises and you wake up.

We intended to clear the animal spirits from your home, but we were asked not to. We believe that you do like them there, during waking hours. Instead, we spoke with them about leaving you and your living pets alone at night and allowing you all to sleep. The amount of love that they feel for you is tremendous! Suzanne from Toronto: I have an increasing amount of dark spots on my face and on my arms. I was thinking of going to doctor to have them lightened.  What do you think?

Dr Doug says: Dear Suzanne, first there are two things to consider here.  What is causing the spots and what can you do to stop making them, even improve them yourself.  The doctor can lighten them with chemicals, which will be a temporary fix, though you will look better for while, if you do not deal with the causes they will come back, as will any symptom from pain in the knee, to indigestion.  So, let’s take a deeper look, shall we…

First, dark spots, brown spots, red spots, discolorations of the skin, raised bumps, skin tags and more are all related liver problems.  Your liver is toxic!  The liver is the filter of the body with over 500 different functions, including making your fat burning hormones, thyroid hormones (energy, emotional and sleep balance), anti-aging hormones.  Hormones are the communication devices to turn on and off functions of the body.  So your hormones are out of balance.  Importantly there are over 600, so taking a drug further disrupts all the other hormones, that is why when people take 1 drug, after a short time, they get on another, then another…

So, addressing the causes of liver toxicity if VITAL!.  There are two major causes.  The first is diet and drink.  The second is looking at “other” exposures, like to you work in a hair salon using chemicals or did you work in a factory or live in neighborhood near an industry using chemicals?  What chemicals do you put on your skin… detergents, soaps, shampoos, cosmetics all have chemicals that harm the liver over time, they accumulate in the liver.  When the liver can’t handle any more, these toxins are stored in the skin, thus the dark brown spots.

I use a regime of synbiotic cultured nutrients that can break down the toxins safely and get them out of the body, thus restoring liver detoxification functions and over time the spots will get better.

Secondly, strong feelings will damage the liver.  We’re talking past stressful experiences, chronic negative thinking.  Strong emotions like fear, rage, anger, hate, shame and guilt all damage the liver intensely.  Resolving what you (the inner child in you) is/was mad at, hurt by, shamed and disgraced by would be a good place to start.  Forgive them, receive their forgiveness (in your heart), forgive yourself, be thankful, see the good!  This forgiveness thing in NOT a head thing, it is a heart thing, you must believe it.  It is something you don’t do for a minute,  It is something you do and do until the mind, body and soul shift (you’ll feel it, you’ll cry, you’ll have new awarenesses – LEARN from it, change you mind!

Solaris channels Rod Serling as her prom dress eerily comes back to haunt her years later, and her prom date ends up stranded in an unworldly, inexcapable place called… The Friend Zone: ”My prom date and I are childhood sweethearts.   We dated three years in high school and went to both proms and both semi-formals. It was magical (yet he always wanted to leave early for the after party lol.) The beautiful part of this is that we’re still best friends, even though we altered our engagement to a friendship love – which taught me that you can still have a sweetness in your heart for someone very important in your past but continue love into another form. I also found my prom dress a few weeks ago in a thrift store – how interesting!”

Laura tells a cautionary tale of a supernatural encounter worthy of an urban myth on Snopes.com: ”There wasn’t much I could recall from my own prom nights ~ uhm! ~  but, I once connected to a girl who had died after a prom dance from  a fatal car accident. Unfortunately, there were other casualties in the same crash due to drunk driving.  I had explained, to the girl’s  family how I saw her wearing a ball gown on the other side, and they had said she was returning from prom. Then they revealed a  picture, from her prom pictures, that was framed to confirm my message. That family had so many regrets and would vow to do things differently if they could bring her back.  I would suggest to any teens and or parents of teens that are planning to attend prom to choose ‘be safe’  options.  For instance, arrange a party bus or an after ‘dance’ party engaging kids (I saw laser tag is a big deal in the Midwest), or  offer kids a home to socialize, with snacks, music and sodas after the dance so that the experience is a “prom night delight”~ful memory!”

Nerd Alert!  Kyra manages to take an exciting topic like prom night and turn it into a history lesson worthy of Antiques Roadshow: “The word “prom” originates from the term “promenade”, meaning a march of guests into a ballroom to announce the start of a ball, a tradition which became popular in the early 1800′s.  A similar event for younger people, the debutante ball, used to be quite common among the upper classes. In a debutante ball, girls who were entering a certain stage of adolescence officially “came out” into the dating scene to meet appropriate suitors their parents had selected. The modern day promenade is in the form of online dating sites, so you can now access the world wide prom on your mobile phone at any time, no matter what your age!”

Brother plays matchmaker from heaven

Q: I have had an amazing spiritual awakening since my brother passed away 3yrs ago on May 30th. I have an amazing feeling I have love coming – am I correct and where should I look? Kris 

A: First Kris, I’m happy to hear about your spiritual awakening. It’s unfortunate it took a family member passing to wake you up, however, your brother served as a catalyst to make you realize what’s most important ~ ‘love’ life….that’s a real soul mate! Your brother gives you a big bear hug and makes mention of a mutual friend, from your past, that may reenter the picture. Only because he is searching to reconnect with your brother, but in turn will find you ~ or you find each other?! Something like that…but, I have a feeling your brother is playing matchmaker, so consider your new mate to be ‘heaven sent’. Although Freddie Mercury passed away in 1991, Queen has soldiered on, even releasing and album and touring with Paul Rodgers as the lead singer. To quote their own song, Queen isn’t ready to bite the dust just yet. Their stage musical, We Will Rock You, which has seen productions worldwide, is commemorating its tenth anniversary by giving its hometown crowd something a little extra beginning tonight. The show will be featuring a special guest cast member – Freddie Mercury.

The anniversary performance, which will take place at London’s Dominion Theatre where the musical initially launched in May 2002, will bridge the gap between sci-fi and reality. An “optical illusion” of Freddie Mercury will join the cast on stage during the show, and is said to be so lifelike that the audience will not even know the difference.

Queen guitarist Brian May, who collaborated in writing the musical with fellow bandmate Roger Taylor and British comedian Ben Elton, told the BBC that they had been trying to find a way to get Freddie to appear on stage for quite a while. Those involved with Freddie’s return to the stage are making it clear that this appearance is much different than the hologram Tupac Shakur performance at Coachella Music & Arts festival last month. In his interview, May also suggested that although the “optical illusion” is being premiered for the 10th anniversary of We Will Rock You, it will continue to be part of the show which runs eight times a week.

Aerosmith will perform on the American Idol season finale on May 23rd. The rockers will take advantage of the fact that their singer is a judge on the popular reality program to create hype for their upcoming “Global Warming Tour” alongside Cheap Trick.

In an interview with Rolling Stone , guitarist Joe Perry discussed the new album, inter-band relationships and future possibilities. When asked if his stance on American Idol and Tyler hosting had changed since appearing on the show to perform “Happy Birthday” to Tyler, Perry responded, “It wasn’t about the show – it was about how we found out about it. I was pissed off about that whole thing, but I’ve played on it before and the band is gonna play on it in the last episode of the season to debut the new single. So it’s not about the show, it’s about how we found out about it. It was a bit of a shock and it took us off balance.”

The group is believed to perform their new single “Legendary Child.”

Dear Heidi: I hope this email finds you well. I’m writing because I have seen the Hat Man a few times. Most recently I walked into my bedroom at 2 am after getting off from work and saw him standing beside my husband. I was startled and turned on the light immediately.

I asked my husband if he was asleep and he replied, ” No, I can’t sleep because something keeps tapping my shoulder.” I was very scared and proceeded to explain what I saw. I have not read your book yet on shadow people and hope to do so very soon.  I’m contacting you however, because around this same time last year the same figure showed itself on my house’s outer wall and fence for a few days.

With both visibly clear appearances I have now witnessed -there has been a very negative and mean character that takes over my husband. Could there be a connection?  I have included the sighting from last year – the side view of his face is on the fence. Thank you, Lucy

Heidi says: What a creepy—creepy experience you’ve had there Lucy!!! Sad to say, the appearance of this Hat Man guy has been reported to evoke negative emotions and outbursts from people.  So…yep I’d say there’s a relation. The interesting thing and advantage that you have is that you saw the darn thing that was responsible. So you saw thine enemy! Yes, I said thine! LOL! If you can see your enemy you are better able to defend yourself…the thing is…it’s attaching to your husband and not you! So apparently the person who needs to take the hint from you is your husband when you see that Hat Man nearby. There’s also the likelihood the Hat Man’s around and attaching to your husband and pulling his strings when no one sees him coming.  With your husband being the point of interest…he needs to think out his actions before acting upon them and if they are truly his own intentions. The Hat Man sneaks in like the boogey man of our nightmares…so don’t leave the porch light on to attract him. Whatever is the element he’s attracted to in your husband, he needs to learn to switch the light off so that bug called the Hat Man can be left to look for another puppet. I hope this helped, and now I ask you to take the time to share your questions and experiences with someone else—so that you might help others express themselves or learn from you.

A few weeks ago, I attended a funeral for my friend’s father. He died a massive heart attack (I accidentally first wrote “massive heartache”).

There was no time to say “Good-bye”, “I’m sorry” or “Let’s get it right.”

It has made me think about some of the people in my own life; people who I wish I had a better relationship with, who I pray would meet me halfway, and who I know I will be sad that I couldn’t . . . or didn’t . . . find resolution with before their passing (even if I go first).

Death touches us all, in so many different ways. It can teach us so many lessons—most that we already intellectually know but still need to apply. (Although I don’t believe the lessons are for the closest family members, who are in deep grieving; I wouldn’t dream of sharing these thoughts with them.)

But here are some of the lessons that I’d ask the rest of us to ponder today:

• Nothing matters more than love.
• Life is too short.
• Forgiving someone doesn’t make them right.
• Each day is a gift.
• Don’t wait until it’s too late to tell someone you love them.
• You don’t know what you’ve got, until you’ve lost it.
• If you still have a chance, take it.
• Make peace with your past.
• “Right now” is all you’ve got.
• Death is inevitable.

Why are these lessons so relevant to me—so urgent that I share with you?

I have not spoken to my own mother in so many years, I’ve lost track. I’ve sent the occasional card and gift. I’ve knocked on her door (metaphorically speaking), but she’s chosen not to answer.

Where does that leave me?

Where does that leave you, if you are in the same boat with someone you love but can’t seem to get things sorted out with?

I asked myself this morning,
“Crystal, why do you feel so badly?”
The answer surprised me: Guilt

I feel guilty that we don’t speak. I feel guilty that I can’t fix it. I feel guilty that her life is not where I think it should be . . . or could be. I feel guilty that I can’t fix it. I feel guilty that I can’t be around her without becoming an angry, bitter, scared, codependent child. I feel guilty that I can’t fix this. I feel guilty that I can’t fix her.

And then it dawned on me: What if I am not supposed to fix it? Or fix her?
What if that’s not my job? What if I am only supposed to love her?

Could I do that?

Could I just simply love her—without getting pulled into her drama, her stories, her messes, her pain?

Could I love her without rescuing her?

Am I that strong?

Am I that loving?

What if today I was going to her funeral instead of my friend’s parent? What would I say to the congregation?

“What a tragedy that I was unable to spend time with the woman who gave birth to me, who braided my hair when I was little, who taught me how to read, and let me make mud pies on hot summer days.

“What a tragedy that as I grew into a woman, I became so unable to make sense of her choices, frustrated with her mistakes, and hurt by her inability to give me what I most needed.

“What a tragedy that I couldn’t enjoy her more—that I didn’t actually ever get to know the ‘real her’ and that she didn’t know the ‘real me’—not the angry daughter I became.

“What a tragedy that she was unable to love me the way I needed to be loved and that I was unable to love her the way she needed to be loved.

“It’s all such a tragedy . . .

“But today, I share this tragedy with you so that you can perhaps learn from our mistakes and try to get it right before it’s too late, because nothing matters more than love . . . and life is too short. Forgiving someone doesn’t make them right. Each day is a gift. Don’t wait until it’s too late to tell someone you love them. You don’t know what you’ve got, until you’ve lost it. If you still have a chance, take it. Make peace with your past. ‘Right now’ is all you’ve got. Death is inevitable.”
