Facebook Debuts The Open Compute Project

Facebook invited hardware makers and internet companies to their headquarters recently to debut the Open Compute Project. An initiative to improve website infrastructures, Facebook will publish documents describing how they built their network of computers that support all of the site’s users and information. Representatives from Google, Microsoft, and Twitter were all on hand to see what they could gain from this newly available information.
